2014Founded in Canada
Founded in 2014 by Martin La Chapelle, Marlac was born out of a passion for building excellence. With years of experience as the Head of the Atlantic Division for a major engineering firm, Martin led a wide range of projects — from large-scale civil works to complex commercial buildings. His deep industry knowledge and hands-on leadership laid the foundation for Marlac's unique approach: we understand both the engineering and the construction sides of the business, and we know that doing things right the first time is the best way to minimize deficiencies and deliver lasting quality. Since its inception, Marlac has specialized in high-end residential and commercial construction across Canada. Our portfolio includes everything from premium homes to fast-paced commercial builds, where tight deadlines and high-pressure environments are the norm. These are the types of challenges we thrive on.
2022Expansion to Costa Rica
In 2022, Marlac expanded internationally, launching a dedicated division in Costa Rica focused on the construction of luxury homes. This move reflects our commitment to growth and our passion for building in exceptional locations with an elevated standard of design and craftsmanship. At Marlac, we take pride in delivering complex, high-stakes projects on time, with a hands-on approach that combines deep technical expertise and a strong commitment to client satisfaction.

Relais de la Cache

Gaspé, Quebec

One of our proudest achievements was the successful completion of the Relais de la Cache project in partnership with the Micmacs of Gesgapegiag. Located deep in the Gaspé region and surrounded by isolated terrain, this project required extensive logistical planning and community involvement. We worked closely with the local population to bring the vision to life — delivering a landmark structure that brought both infrastructure and opportunity to the region.

Atlas Structure Factory Conversion

New Brunswick

We converted the former Kent Home Supplies building into a full-scale manufacturing facility for Atlas Structure, a division funded by Irving. This project stood out for its complexity, involving multiple structural and mechanical systems and requiring a high level of coordination. Despite the demanding specifications of the client, we completed the project two months ahead of schedule — a testament to our planning, execution, and ability to thrive under pressure.

Grey Rock Quality Hotel

First Nations partnership · Edmundston

Marlac took the reins from design to completion on the Grey Rock Hotel, an 85-room establishment built adjacent to the Grey Rock Casino as part of a First Nations partnership. Achieved in record time, it fuses contemporary luxury with cutting-edge technology — two conference centers, a pool and gym, and a pedway connecting directly to the casino.
